If you’re looking to rapidly level up your SHD rank in The Division 2, this guide will walk you through a highly efficient farming method using the open-world control point “The Choke”, located near the Castle Settlement. This method allows you to gain massive experience per run with minimal effort, especially when paired with the correct build and difficulty settings.
This is a great method whether you're just hitting level 40 and trying to catch up, or you're a veteran player farming scavenging points and Watch bonuses beyond SHD 1000.
Where is the build?
Before you begin, you’ll want to ensure you’re set up for maximum efficiency:
Location: The Choke (Control Point)
Nearest Fast Travel Point: Castle Settlement
Difficulty: Heroic
Directives: 4 enabled (e.g., Fog of War, Ammo Hoarders, Fragile Armor, Scavenged Skills)
💡 Tip: With 4 directives and Heroic difficulty, each successful run typically yields one full SHD level, making this one of the fastest and most consistent levelling methods in the game.
Solo vs Group Farming: Which is Better?
While this method can be done in a group, solo runs are generally faster and more efficient:
Solo Farming Pros:
Faster control point resets
Predictable spawn patterns
No need to coordinate gear or pace
Less downtime between runs
Group Farming Pros:
Can clear enemies faster with synchronized builds
More forgiving for less optimized loadouts
Social aspect if playing with friends
Benefits Beyond SHD Levels
This farming method offers more than just SHD level progression; it also helps you advance in several key areas. By completing Heroic-tier control points, you'll quickly gather attachment blueprints, which are essential for unlocking high-end weapon mods. As you progress past SHD 1000, your XP will continue to contribute to scavenging points on your watch, which are crucial for maxing out your character’s abilities. Additionally, farming control points helps with watch maxing, boosting vital stats like crit damage, weapon handling, and Armor regeneration.
You'll also collect resources like materials, exotic components, and control point caches, all of which are essential for crafting and modding.. Lastly, this farm sets you up well for future updates, especially with the potential removal of the mule mechanic. Solo players with maxed-out watches will be significantly more self-sufficient, ensuring they remain effective even without relying on teammates for resource sharing.
When to Farm
“The Choke” farm is always available, but it becomes even more beneficial during specific times. Global XP Events provide temporary XP multipliers, making each run even more rewarding. Global Events introduce added buffs or challenges, giving extra rewards for completing them. Additionally, Weekly Projects often require players to complete Heroic control points, contributing to weekly SHD caches and further incentivizing the grind.
