In this guide, we’ll explore the Specialization Classes in The Division 2. Specializations allow you to tailor your gameplay based on your preferred build and playstyle. Each one comes with a powerful signature weapon, a unique skill and a skill tree packed with exclusive talents and bonuses.


Gunner Specialization

The Minigun is a devastating weapon, capable of shredding enemies and obliterating weak points with ease. You replenish its ammo by eliminating foes with your primary or secondary weapons. The Minigun features a 50-round magazine and can store up to 150 additional rounds for reloads, ensuring sustained firepower in battle.


How to Unlock the specialization


Unlocking the Gunner specialization requires completing five sets of challenges, each containing multiple objectives. Alternatively, you can purchase the specializations using premium credits in the in-game store.

What makes a specialization good?


The Gunner Specialization is an excellent choice for DPS (Damage Per Second) builds, especially those utilizing the Striker, Umbra, Heartbreaker, Hunter’s Fury or other high-end DPS setups with more red core attributes.


Talents and benefits


  • Incessant: Grants 10% Armor on kill.

  • Coupler: Every third reload is 50% faster.

  • Supply Lines: Automatically generates 10% of total ammo capacity every 60 seconds.

  • Barrage: Increases rate of fire by 5% for 5 seconds after each kill.

  • Large Pouch: Unlocks a magazine mod for LMGs, increasing ammo capacity by 50 bullets.

Banshee Pulse (Skill Variant): This powerful tool excels at crowd control, disrupting enemies and making it easier for your team to secure kills.

 

Firewall Specialization

Flamethrower

The Firewall Specialization features the K8-JetStream Flamethrower as its signature weapon, a short-range, high-intensity tool designed to quickly apply the Burn status effect to multiple enemies. Ideal for aggressive playstyles, the flamethrower excels at crowd control, flushing enemies from cover and area denial, making it especially effective in close quarters combat.

What makes a specialization good?


For players using a fire focused status effect build, this enhancement boosts burn duration by 20%, extending damage over time effects for better crowd control.


In PvP, the Extracellular Matrix Mesh remains a fan favourite, delivering a powerful defensive boost. It grants 200% Armor and health regeneration over 10 seconds, providing a crucial advantage in high-pressure situations.

Firewall Tactical Link: It increases the damage dealt by nearby allies by 10% as long as they stay within 10 meters of you.


Specialization Skill


Striker Shield: That allows the use of the flamethrower and also boosts the damage of the agent and the allies behind it based on the number of enemies in front of the shield. You will get 5% Damage bonus per enemy that is in front of your shield at base skill tier but this will increase with the number of skill tiers in your build, reaching a max of 7% per enemy in the buff's cone.

 

Technician Specialization

How to Unlock the specialization


To unlock the Technician, you must complete a set of five challenges, each with multiple objectives. Alternatively it can be bought with the premium credits in the game store.

The Technician Specialization is an excellent choice for skill-focused builds, hybrid loadouts and even certain PvP configurations, thanks to its versatile and supportive set of perks. It provides a +1 skill tier, allowing players to maximize skill efficiency without sacrificing core attributes.


Talents and benefits


  • Linked Laser Pointer: Which unlocks an underbarrel attachment for compatible weapons that automatically pulses enemies when you aim at them. This synergizes perfectly with the Spotter weapon talent, which boosts damage to pulsed targets.

  • Amped: perk is especially valuable for skill-focused and hybrid builds, as it grants a free skill tier, allowing you to reach higher skill effectiveness without sacrificing Armor or weapon damage.

  • Dismantling perk: Comes in handy. It grants +12% damage to drones, skills, and robotics, making it easier to deal with rogue agents using aggressive skill loadouts.


Specialization Skill


Artificer Hive: Gives players Skill Proficiency which increases all skills stats by 20% at base skill tier, increasing to a maximum of 70% at skill tier 6. Skill proficiency includes:

Demolitionist Specialization

It’s a versatile specialization that works well with a variety of builds, from high DPS setups to tank roles. It works well with explosive skills like Seeker Mines, Explosive Sticky and grenades.


Talents and benefits


  • Explosive Ordnance: Increases explosive damage by 10%, making it ideal for skills or weapons that rely on explosions.

  • Incombustible: Grants 20% burn resistance, which is especially useful during encounters like the Captain Fieser fight in the Iron Horse raid, Brooklyn DLC or any other content where players have to deal with fire.

  • Demolitionist Tactical Link provides +5% damage to targets out of cover to all group members, making it a strong support perk in team play.

  • Brace for Impact: Completely negates the damage from an incoming explosion. This perk has a 60-second cooldown and can be a lifesaver in chaotic fights.

The crossbow is a key component of the Jammer build, especially useful in the final phase of the Dark Hours Raid. Additionally this specialization is a strong choice for any healing support builds due to its increase to outgoing healing and armour kits that's can be shared amongst agents upon activation.


Talents and benefits


  • Elite Defense: Which grants 10% protection from elites

  • Distributed Repairs: which allows Armor kits to also heal nearby allies within 20 meters.

  • Triage Specialist, which increases outgoing healing by 15%.

Additionally, this specialization unlocks the Mender Seeker Mine skill variant, further enhancing support capabilities.

 

Sharpshooter Specialization

This is a must have for any dedicated sniper build, particularly those centred around the Determined and Headhunter talents, which reward precision and quick target elimination. These talents synergize exceptionally well with high damage headshots, allowing skilled marksmen to chain kills and significantly amplify their damage output. Equipping the right gear to complement these talents can turn a sniper into a devastating force, capable of clearing enemies rapidly and maintaining momentum in both solo and group content.

  • Breath Control: which improves weapon stability, reduces recoil, and allows for faster target acquisition.

The Sharpshooter specialization also unlocks the tactician scout drone skill variant that marks targets and highlights them on the agent’s HUD.
